About Gatchaman:
In 1972, the original anime series “Kagaku Ninja Tai Gatchaman” made its debut, but it is most recognized in North America as the English adaptation “Battle of the Planets” released in 1978. Created by Tatsuo Yoshida and produced by Tatsunoko Production. Science Ninja Team Gatchaman is about a five-member superhero team: Ken the Eagle, Joe the Condor, Jun the Swan, Jinpei the Swallow, and Ryu the Owl. The team exists to oppose an international terrorist organization of technologically advanced villains trying to control Earth's natural resources.
Story Description:
A mechanical terror has descended upon numerous cities and the world’s greatest scientists are disappearing. Our only hope: Science Ninja Team Gatchaman! As they battle these machinations from the international terrorist organization known as Galactor, their strength, willpower, and even vehicles are pushed to the absolute limit. If they fail…who’s waiting in the wings to take their place? The first exciting issue in an ongoing series that expands upon the original anime series!
About the Artist:
John Hebert, born in New York State is a Marvel alumnus whose earliest canvas was the walls of his family home. At age four, he sketched his vision for how TV’s Batman and Robin (Adam West and Burt Ward) would escape from The Penguin (Burgess Meredith).
At the insistence of his mother, John’s media transitioned to pencil and paper where his talents accelerated, accepting a job to draw his first comic book just 2 days before his graduation from art school... John’s most recognized work includes the Punisher: War Zone, X-Men Adventures, Deathlok, Captain America, Spider-Man, Sable, and Jonny Quest.
