2nd GOLDEN AGE TRIBUTE | NOW SHIPPING
Trade Dress | Limited Edition: 250
About the Phantom Lady:
Phantom Lady was created by the Eisner & Iger studio, one of the first to produce comics on demand for publishers. The character's early adventures were drawn by Arthur Peddy. As published by Fox Feature Syndicate in the late 1940s, the busty and scantily-clad Phantom Lady is a notable and controversial example of 'Good Girl Art', a style of comic art depicting voluptuous female characters in provocative situations and pin-up poses that contributed to widespread criticism of the medium's effect on children. The character was ranked 49th in Comics Buyer's Guide's "100 Sexiest Women in Comics" list.
About the Creation:
The original cover looked to me like Phantom Lady was breaking up a fight, but without emotional involvement. I wanted to add to the story with my cover, so I gave Sandra Knight a more judging look as she turns to the woman in her left hand, and a more terrified expression on the face of the man in her right hand. For coloring, I worked to stay true to the original with a little inspiration from ‘Rosie the Riveter’ in my use of layering and shadow. - Jaime Coker
About the Artist:
Jaime Coker grew up in Hawaii, where he met his wife and creative partner Trisha. He is a self taught artist, best known for his pop culture mash ups and 'Villainous Villain' series. His art, like his personality, is often vibrant and engaging, celebrating a genuine passion for fandom.
