MBartist EXCLUSIVE!
Limited Edition, Golden Age Tribute by Francine Delgado:
PLANET COMICS #51 Partial Facsimile
Cover A: Trade Dress - Limited Edition of 250
About Planet Comics:
Planet Comics was a science fiction comic book title published by Fiction House from January 1940 to Winter 1953. It was the first comic book dedicated wholly to science fiction. Like most of Fiction House's early comics titles, Planet Comics was a spinoff of a pulp magazine, in this case Planet Stories. Like the magazine before it, Planet Comics features space operatic tales of muscular, heroic space adventurers who are quick with their "ray pistols" and always running into gorgeous women who need rescuing from bug-eyed space aliens or fiendish interstellar bad guys.
About the Creation:
A reimagining of the classic comic book cover art from PLANET COMICS #51 (1947, Joe Doolin) from the Golden Age of Comics and one of the early science-fiction adventure books. “The original cover of Planet Comics #51 is already such a great piece, I wondered how I could push it. My approach was to make it more of a fight! I wanted to make the heroine less of a helpless damsel in distress and more empowered in control of the battle.” – Francine Delgado
About the Artist:
Fran(cine) Delgado is a Costa Rican-born artist (Pura Vida!) now living in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Skilled in many aspects of design, her most recognized fan artworks include the female heroes from X-Men: Evolution and her on-screen illustration work include The Addams Family, Monster High, and Megaman.
